Recipe Ingredients
- 4lbs cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped
- 4 med onions , peeled and chopped
- 2 crushed cloves of garlic
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- 1.5 pints vinegar
- 1lb raisins
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp salt
- 2lbs soft brown sugar

How to make Spiced Apple Chutney
- Place apples, onions, garlic, lemon juice, mustard seeds and 1 pint of the vinegar into a pan
- Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until soft, stirring frequently
- Add raisins, ground ginger, salt, sugar and the remaining vinegar and simmer until chutney is thick
- Ladle into hot, sterilised jars and seal
- Mature for 6 weeks before using
