Butterscotch Sauce – “How To Make” Recipe From The Jam Jar Shop

Recipe Ingredients
- 125g/4oz butter
- 170g/6oz soft brown sugar
- 125g/4oz granulated sugar
- 275g/10oz golden syrup
- 240ml/8 fl oz double cream
- Few drops of vanilla essence
Recipe Equipment
- Large preserving pan
- Wooden spoon
- Jam Jars - We recommend a pack of 8oz Jars or a pack of 8oz Hexagonal Jars
- Muslin cloth
- Cellophane covers & waxed discs
HOW TO MAKE BUTTERSCOTCH SAUCE
- Place the butter and sugars in a medium pan together with the golden syrup
- Heat slowly until everything has melted and the sugars dissolved
- Continue to heat for a further 5 mins.
- Turn off the heat
- Gradually stir in the cream and follow with the vanilla essence
- Stir for a further 2-3 mins or until the sauce is absolutely smooth
Can be used immediately and served hot or cold
Will keep for several weeks in the fridge
